Italian for “Panther”, the Pantera is a mid engine sports car produced in Italy that made its debut in Modena in March of 1970. Designed by American designer Tom Tjaarda and produced under the supervision of Ghia Marcello Gandini, the Pantera took the place of the De Tomaso Mangusta. Powered by a Ford 351 ci Cleveland backed by the 5 speed ZF transmission these cars were built to perform. This particular Pantera is referred to as an L model meaning “Lusso”.
